History --(copyright of Harry Potter Wiki)
Draco was the only child of Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy (née Black), who were both born into old, wealthy pure-blood families. Through his mother, Draco was a descendant of the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black and the great-great-great grandson of Phineas Nigellus Black. Both the Malfoys and the Blacks had traditionally been in Slytherin House for centuries and strongly disapproved of any relatives who did not follow this tradition.
The Malfoys were very proud of their pure-blood and social status; until 1996, they were able to maintain a respectable public image while being allied with Lord Voldemort. Lucius was a Death Eater who avoided imprisonment in Azkaban following the First Wizarding War by claiming that he had been under the Imperius Curse, while Narcissa merely agreed with the ideology of pure-blood supremacy. The Malfoys spoiled their son, giving him the best of everything as far as material possessions go. The only hand-me-down thing Draco ever received was the old family prejudice against Muggles, Muggle-borns, half-breeds, and blood traitors; in short, prejudice against anyone who was not a pure-blood witch or wizard, or anyone who supports these types of people.

Draco groaned as he rolled over in his fine king sized bed. He knew he had to get up to go to the train station today. He really wasn't looking forward to it like everyone thought. Just another year for precious saint Potter to get whatever he wanted. Though, when the thought of this year was the Triwizard year, he shot up in bed. He smirked, because he knew the little secret that the Weasel had been trying to figure out for days. Thanks to his father, anyway. He slowly climbed out of bed, doing his morning ritual of showering, changing, ect. while thinking about how he was going to enter the tournament. He didn't know about the age ban.
He swiftly walked down the stairs of the Manor, fully dressed in his Slytherin robes. Usually Dobby would've apparated over to him to annoy him with some news. But it's been two years now since he had been set free and his father hadn't really gotten around to getting himself a new elf. With Voldemort supposedly returning and all, Lucius was busy. But Draco wasn't told all that. He just knew that Dobby wasn't there to annoy him with a message from his mother like every morning. He walked into the dining room, the smaller one of the few they had, and saw that breakfast was made. He made a face, because he really wasn't hungry. But he sat down at the table anyway, to please his mother, though she wasn't in there. His father was.
"Tell mother that I don't need her to escort me to the platform this year," said Draco. He felt that he was getting too old for that, and he wanted to look good in front of his friends.
